Hollyoaks soap actors strip for calender
Daily Mail reports:
(United Kingdom) Not to be outdone by their female colleagues from Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, the boys have stripped off...just weeks after the girls did the same. The Hollyoaks hunks were in Mallorca shooting the official 2009 calender and they certainly did not disappoint. It turned into more of a battle of the six packs then a friendly lark about the sun as the lads stripped off and showed the photographers whet they were made of. READ MORE

Lynda Carter: 'I'm an Alcoholic'
People reports:
To children of the '70s, she was a glamorous TV icon with her bullet-proof bracelets and Star-Spangled corset. But now Wonder Woman Lynda Carter has turned the "Lasso of Truth" on herself, admitting publicly that she's an alcoholic.
"My husband asked me ... 'Can't you just stop this for the children and for me?' " His plea prompted her to seek treatment at a rehab facility near her home in Washington, D.C. "I needed help – I begged God in heaven to help me figure this out," says Carter, now sober for nearly ten years. What has the recovery process taught her? The best measure of a human being, she says, is "how we treat the people who love us, and the people that we love."

Retelling the history of Black music: Everything you know about the Blues is wrong
Mark Reynolds writes:
You may think this music was created by poor, broke-down black men in the American South, to be precise the fertile cotton plantations and ramshackle surroundings known as the Mississippi Delta. You may perceive that these men lived in hard times framed by social and economic degradation, disconnected from urban modernity. You may believe these dire conditions invested the music with a mysterious poignancy, a sense of moral and artistic authenticity utterly lacking in the popular sounds of the day.
You might even imagine a certain romance about this primitive early music, as if by the very nature of its otherness, it’s somehow imbued with a purity and closeness to The Truth that all us citified folks can’t even fathom. You’d be wrong about a lot of that. But no worries, it’s not your fault.
For the most part, blacks were not involved in the heroic work of rescuing the black acoustic blues legacy from the passage of time. READ MORE

Dennis Haysbert: My role as President on "24" may have helped pave the way for Obama
Scott Sonner writes:
(Reno, Nevada) Dennis Haysbert likes to believe his portrayal as the first African-American U.S. president on Fox's "24" may have helped pave the way for Barack Obama. "If anything, my portrayal of David Palmer, I think, may have helped open the eyes of the American people," said the actor, who has contributed $2,300 to the Illinois Democrat's presidential campaign. "And I mean the American people from across the board - from the poorest to the richest, every color and creed, every religious base - to prove the possibility there could be an African-American president, a female president, any type of president that puts the people first," he said Tuesday. Rufus Wainwright: Barbara Bush is a fag hag and a spawn of Satan!
Andrew Williams writes:
Singer Rufus Wainwright (pictured), 34, is a former drug addict who was helped into rehab by Elton John. He has earned a cult following and his last album, Release The Stars, got to No.2 in the [UK] charts. He recently did a series of shows in which he re-enacted Judy Garland's 1961 Carnegie Hall gig. Wainwright plays London's Kenwood House on Saturday [in the UK].
What’s your favourite piece of stage wear?
Rufus Wainwright: As a true homosexualist, I have to go with the Judy Garland outfit as it was easy and iconic. It was the Get Happy outfit, a fitted blazer with stockings and heels and a Cuban hat.
You used to socialise with Barbara Bush Jr. Is she fun to booze with?
Rufus Wainwright: I only did that very briefly. The thing about the Bushes is even though they’re the spawn of Satan they are extremely charming and congenial. I liked Barbara, she’s a fag hag.
What songs can’t you stand?
Rufus Wainwright: I’m a huge fan of Amy Winehouse, she’s so brilliant but I’m so tired of hearing her. It’s everywhere all the time. Congratulations on her success but we need to go back to white, ha ha.
Do you get weird fan mail?
Rufus Wainwright: I get a lot of scarves and brooches. I have a strong maternal fanbase in Britain. They’d all individually take a bullet for me. I also get a lot of mail from heterosexual men who are willing to sleep with me to further their careers.

Kim Cattrall is getting back into bed with HBO
Zapt2it reports:
Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones on the small-screen Sex and the City and currently stars in the box office-topping film based on the show, will star in and executive produce a show for HBO called Sensitive Skin. The show is based on a British series (as seemingly every TV project is these days) about a middle-aged woman who starts to wonder about the choices she's made in her life, emotionally, sexually and otherwise.
Kim Cattrall won a Golden Globe in 2003 for playing Samantha and earned five consecutive Emmy nominations for the role from 2000-04.
Is Uwe Boll cinema's worst director?
Clark Collis writes:
Is Uwe Boll cinema's worst director? Judging by 11 of his movies, the German schlockmeister is definitely in the running.
SANCTIMONY (2000)
Uwe Boll's first English-language movie is a boring American Psycho rip-off on which the director established a formula he would repeat for his next few cinematic offerings. Main ingredients? Thriller tropes; wordy, unbelievable dialogue; an intrusive soundtrack; and appearances by amiable straight-to-video mainstay Michael Pare and, more often than not, a member of the Starship Troopers cast. Here, cop Pare is on the trail of a serial killer played by Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, natch).
THE FIRST SEMESTER (1997)
Hilarity ensues in this college comedy when the uncle of an oafish student promises to give him a bunch of money if said nephew can pass two classes and get himself a steady girlfriend. Did we say ''hilarity''? We meant ''vomiting, flatulence, and poorly conceived plot twists.'' A box office bomb, The First Semester would be Uwe Boll's last (deliberately) comedic movie until his completed but as-yet-unreleased Postal.
HEART OF AMERICA (2003)
A dire, exploitative tale of gun-toting kids going berserk at their high school, Heart of America is what Gus Van Zant's Columbine-inspired Elephant might have looked like had Van Zant never directed a film before, or, indeed, had never seen one. Michael Pare and Clint Howard play, respectively, a teacher and cartoonishly unpleasant father.

The rise of Canadian porn star Pierre Fitch
Josh Ginsberg writes:
For most teenage boys, getting hold of some porn is the beginning of a good weekend. For Pierre Fitch (pictured), it was the beginning of a career. Now one of Canada's best known gay porn stars, Fitch saw the potential for profit from his early days of surfing the internet as a randy adolescent. "If those guys are going to be naked, I'm going to be naked," Fitch told himself as a kid.
And, to the delight of his legions of fans, Fitch has since bared all on dozens of websites and countless DVDs. At 26, he has proven himself a shrewd entrepreneur, having built a thriving business around his red-hatted, tattooed image.
Once the darling of Falcon Studios, a mammoth US producer of gay erotic entertainment, Fitch spurned the glitz of California for Montreal — but not before using it to make his name. Now he's working at his own pace, shooting his porn his way. READ MORE
