Daily Mail reports:
(United Kingdom) Not to be outdone by their female colleagues from Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, the boys have stripped off...just weeks after the girls did the same. The Hollyoaks hunks were in Mallorca shooting the official 2009 calender and they certainly did not disappoint. It turned into more of a battle of the six packs then a friendly lark about the sun as the lads stripped off and showed the photographers whet they were made of. READ MORE

Lynda Carter: 'I'm an Alcoholic'
People reports:
To children of the '70s, she was a glamorous TV icon with her bullet-proof bracelets and Star-Spangled corset. But now Wonder Woman Lynda Carter has turned the "Lasso of Truth" on herself, admitting publicly that she's an alcoholic.
"My husband asked me ... 'Can't you just stop this for the children and for me?' " His plea prompted her to seek treatment at a rehab facility near her home in Washington, D.C. "I needed help – I begged God in heaven to help me figure this out," says Carter, now sober for nearly ten years. What has the recovery process taught her? The best measure of a human being, she says, is "how we treat the people who love us, and the people that we love."
Fox News is silent (surprise!) on doctored photos
Yesteday, I posted about how Fox News airs digitally altered photos of two New York Times reporters - today - Media Matters reports: Editor & Publisher reported that "The Fox News channel has gained wide attention today in the blogosphere for airing photos of two New York Times staffers that appear to have been doctored to portray the Timesmen in an unflattering light." The E&P piece further reported that "[n]either Steinberg nor Reddicliffe were reachable for comment Wednesday. But Times Culture Editor Sam Sifton called the Fox photo work 'disgusting,' and the criticism of the paper's reporting 'a specious and meritless claim.' ... Asked if the paper planned to respond to Fox's actions, he said no: 'It is fighting with a pig, everyone gets dirty and the pig likes it.' "

Fox News airs digitally altered photos of two New York Times reporters
Media Matters reports:
During a segment in which Fox & Friends co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade labeled New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg and editor Steven Reddicliffe "attack dogs," Fox News featured photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe that appeared to have been digitally altered -- the journalists' teeth had been yellowed, their facial features exaggerated, and portions of Reddicliffe's hair moved further back on his head. Dennis Haysbert: My role as President on "24" may have helped pave the way for Obama
Scott Sonner writes:
(Reno, Nevada) Dennis Haysbert likes to believe his portrayal as the first African-American U.S. president on Fox's "24" may have helped pave the way for Barack Obama. "If anything, my portrayal of David Palmer, I think, may have helped open the eyes of the American people," said the actor, who has contributed $2,300 to the Illinois Democrat's presidential campaign. "And I mean the American people from across the board - from the poorest to the richest, every color and creed, every religious base - to prove the possibility there could be an African-American president, a female president, any type of president that puts the people first," he said Tuesday. Kim Cattrall is getting back into bed with HBO
Zapt2it reports:
Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones on the small-screen Sex and the City and currently stars in the box office-topping film based on the show, will star in and executive produce a show for HBO called Sensitive Skin. The show is based on a British series (as seemingly every TV project is these days) about a middle-aged woman who starts to wonder about the choices she's made in her life, emotionally, sexually and otherwise.
Kim Cattrall won a Golden Globe in 2003 for playing Samantha and earned five consecutive Emmy nominations for the role from 2000-04.
Robert Buckley
Actor Robert Buckley, from NBC's Lipstick Jungle was out and about in New York City over the weekend. Great looking guy, kinda reminds me a little of actor Scott Speedman (below) from the TV show Felicity.

Matt Lauer abs-olutely needs a NEW swimsuit
TMZ posted these pics of NBC's Today Show host, Matt Lauer. He's over 50-years-old. Not bad. He did look a little more ripped 2 years ago. The guy makes a few bucks, so you'd think he would spend a little on a new swimsuit, eh? LOL.
Interview: 'Angel' Jaclyn Smith
Greg Archer writes:
Jaclyn Smith took down the bad guys on Charlie’s Angels 30 years ago, but now she’s happily traded in the pistol for the hair dryer. As host of Bravo’s hot-air hit Shear Genius, the titular angel generates buzz as mentor to a slew of passionate, often emotional hair designers.
Where you surprised at how well Shear Genius was received when it debuted last year?
Jaclyn Smith: I was. That was fascinating to me. I’m used to doing a movie or a mini-series and the response to this was just amazing. I think, maybe viewers feel they’re dipping into real life. Certainly, on many Bravo shows, there’s a lot of expert advice. You learn a lot. I think it’s another world, and people are fascinated with the lifestyles.
Anything we should watch out for this season?
Jaclyn Smith: Well, there’s a Charlie’s Angels hair challenge. You have to see that one.
I have some Charlie’s Angels questions. Are you tired of being asked about the show?
Jaclyn Smith: Oh, no. It’s gratifying to think we still have an impact so many years later. I think part of my being on TV now is from that appearance on the Emmys a few years ago, when Kate, Farrah and I were reunited for that tribute to Aaron Spelling. A lot of good things have come from Charlie’s Angels, and I have nothing but fond memories.
Although, out of all the Angels, I think Kelly’s story lines always went a bit deeper, you know?
Jaclyn Smith: I think they put me as the emotional one. And I am in real life. I am a very emotional girl.
Well, you have a big gay following too.
Jaclyn Smith: It’s wonderful. You can only be appreciative and grateful to loyal fans, who appreciate your work. There could be nothing better. It’s a validation, and it’s a great feeling.
The Grand Lady of Daytime: Beverlee McKinsey (August 9, 1935 to May 2, 2008)
I don't know how I missed this, but one of my all-time favourite actresses, Beverlee McKinsey, died last month. As a kid, I first saw McKinsey on the now defunct daytime soap, Another World, where she played Iris Cory Carrington. As the penultimate daddy's girl, Iris was constantly making life hell for her father, Mackenzie Cory (actor Douglass Watson) and his vixen-turned good-girl wife, Rachel (actress Victoria Wyndham). McKinsey's portrayal of Iris was unforgettable. She went on to further acclaim as Alexandra Spaulding on Guiding Light (see below).
Despite her prominence in daytime television, McKinsey, who passed away on May 2nd from kidney failure, was not remembered at this month's Daytime Emmy's - an incredible oversight, considering that her portrayals of Iris and Alexandra are legendary. Nevertheless, I am saddened to learn of the passing of one soap's great icons; Beverlee McKinsey will be missed.
Via We Love Soaps, comes this excellent piece by a fellow fan of McKinsey's, writing in the Red Room:
Last month, one of the best actresses I ever saw on television died. Her name was Beverlee McKinsey. If you’re not familiar to soap operas, you’re probably scratching your head, wondering who she is. Beverlee McKinsey created two popular characters in soap operas: the Daddy loving, stepmother hating Iris Cory Carrington on Another World and Texas, and Baroness Alexandra Spaulding Von Halkein Thorpe on Guiding Light. Her characters were elegant and ruthless. They could be bitchy yet vulnerable. If you saw Beverlee McKinsley in action, you wouldn’t forget it. READ MORE

I, 'Mobot: a brief history of gay androids
Evan Mulvihill writes:
An opera version of Brokeback Mountain. Same-sex marriage in California. Madonna's new album. America is, by any reasonable measure, getting its gay on. And nowhere is this more apparent than when it comes to robots. Of course, film and television provide a rich history:
ROSIE THE ROBOT MAID
PLACE OF ORIGIN: The Jetsons
SEXUALITY: We can't help but think that the Jetsons' robot maid Rosie reminds us of ... another Rosie. One who also enjoys sensible clothing and is quick with the jokes. Although Rosie the robot did at one point have a robot boyfriend, he was tragically deactivated, leading her, we must presume, to find sapphic solace in the arms of robot women.
HOMOMETER RATING: 9
TIN MAN
PLACE OF ORIGIN: Oz
SEXUALITY: The Tin Man's earnest quest for emotional openness (i.e., heart) makes him a candidate for the velvet mafia, but his ill-fitting costume and lumberjack past are also strong hetero indicators. Pushing him over the midpoint: He’s literally a friend of Dorothy.
HOMOMETER RATING: 6

Famous Gay African-Americans
This is a great gallery.
Long overdue.
Surprisingly, Keith Boykin did not make the list!?!
Rod2.0 writes:
Just in time for gay pride, AOL/Blackvoices produces a thoughtful microsite devoted to Famous Gay African-Americans. The editors went beyond the usual suspects and devoted slides and bios to 29 contemporary and historical men and women, and, some of the choices were surprising. On the historical side, there is Bayard Rustin, James Baldwin, Langston Hughes, as well as women such as the late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, author Octavia Butler, and singers Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday. The sexuality of these women is often ignored by mainstream and black media, so their inclusion was commendable. READ MORE
